Robot Sumo Wrestlers Fight For European Title

The Wiener Hall of Science on 20 and 21 March 2010 hosted one of the biggest robotics competitions worldwide: More than 600 robots from 23 countries compete in this year’s European Championships in 11 disciplines robots against each other.

The Robot Challenge has established itself in recent years at a fixed part of the international robotics scene and gaining every year more and more participants for themselves: The number of participating robots has quadrupled over the previous year to more than 600. This year will be held in the Robot Challenge, the first European Championship in robot sumo wrestling. The modeled on traditional Japanese martial arts, try each robot as quickly as possible push out of the ring.

The event is organized by InnoC, the Austrian Association for Innovative Computer Science, in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Science and Research and is part of the international robotics initiative cents Robot.

Robot designers from around the world gather for a weekend in downtown Vienna (Aula der Wissenschaften, Wollzeile 27a, 1010 Vienna) for their self-developed robot in the race for the European title to send. In eleven disciplines in the context of the Robot Challenge 2010, fighting for medals. Austrian robots are also 60 at the start and expect to have a good chance.

On both days, the competitions starting from 10 clock. Admission is free.
